Annapurna Circuit Trekking is the longest trekking package around Annapurna region. As the name itself suggests, the trekking route goes around Annapurna massif and various other peaks so that it is also known as Annapurna round trekking. This is one of the popular trekking packages as it offers the most diverse experiences and gives you a feeling of making many trips in just a single journey. In a 20 day adventure, you will reach a number of far-flung districts of Nepal and experience the authentic traditional lifestyle. The major highlight of this trek is reaching the highest altitude of 5,416m where lies the Thorung La Pass- the pass at the highest altitude, situated between the valley of Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki. The Kali Gandaki gorge is the deepest gorge (6,967m). In addition, the enthralling view of the white glistening peaks like Annapurna I (8091 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Manaslu (8163 m), Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and many others is the beauty of the journey. The adventure equally provides you ample opportunity to explore a number of religious sites like Muktinath Temple, various monasteries and gompas all along the way. If you are planning to spend your vacation amidst wild nature, Annapurna Circuit Trek is the perfect choice which offers you a long escapade for rejuvenation.

Getting Started: Your journey in Nepal begins with warm greetings on your arrival here in Nepal and directly escort to the hotel for your comfortable stay from your arrival Place. Your accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara will offer the tourist standard hotel and the mountain lodges while on a trek. Aiming Adventure manages your entire stay from your arrival till departure. Your meal throughout the journey will include breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the lodges along the trail. You will begin the journey exploring around UNESCO world heritage sites around Kathmandu. The following day, you will drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and begin the trek the next day.

Around Annapurna Circuit: You will begin the walk from Besisahar enjoying the splendid view of mountains and passing by enchanting waterfall en route. The quiet and charming villages of Ghermu, Syange, Jagat, and many others will make the journey worthwhile. Most of the villages here are populated by Tamang and Gurung community. You will get to meet the locals and interact with them at the occasional stops at the teahouses. This is your perfect chance to experience the lifestyle of Nepalese countryside. The journey is beautified by the picture-perfect views of the lush green landscapes, terrain, forests, and mountains in the backdrop. As the elevation increases you will experience changes in the surrounding. The villages disappear and the vegetation gets sparse. You will have to make the uphill walk for a few hours before you reach Thorung La Pass, the pass at the highest altitude. You will also visit Muktinath, the religious holy site for Hindus and Buddhists. The 108 holy water sprouts make this place special for religious people as well as tourists. Walking along the circuit will then take you to Tatopani where you can relax your aching muscles in the hot water springs. The walk further takes you to Poon Hill where you can catch the magnificent sunrise striking on the glistening mountain range. The circuit comes to an end at Nayapul and then you drive to Pokhara before heading back to Kathmandu.

What to expect: As this is the longest trek around Annapurna Circuit, some of you might feel that you will not be able to make this trek without prior trekking experience. But you need not have prior trekking experience to embark on this trek. You just need to be in good health and our instructors will provide you safety instructions before the trek begins. You will just have to strictly follow the instructions provided. Some might experience altitude sickness. So, we have set aside ample time for acclimatization to prevent such issues. Living in the mountains will not be comfortable like a city and you will have to adjust with minimum facilities in some places. The most preferable time to make the trek would be from March to May and September to November when the weather gets bright and clear. However, being the Himalayan region the weather can sometimes get unpredictable even during the most favorable season.

If you are looking for shorter trekking packages around Annapurna region we suggest you take a look at Annapurna Panorama Trek, Budget Trek to Annapurna Base Camp, and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.

Aiming Adventure suggests you get travel insurance that covers all the added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with the air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and other treatment costs). Also, make sure that your insurance policy covers all the extra activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of the medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation cost. Most of the days while trekking in Nepal takes you above an altitude of 3000m, it is kindly requested to ensure that your insurance policy covers treks that go over 4000m. Buying insurance is highly recommended.

Health, experience, and fitness:

Trekking in Nepal is physically tougher in some of the regions. However, no previous trekking experienced is required but if you have, it is a great plus point. Trekking in Nepal is a non-technical walk. The highest height you would reach on your trip is 5,416m (Thorung La) from sea level. The walk involves lots of ups and downhill takes you through local villages, farming lands, terraces, and riverside but as long as you have a strength of walking for 4 to 6 hours a day, you are qualified for the trek. However, you should be having moderate health and fitness. We strongly suggest travelers consult with your medical doctor before traveling and do the regular checkup of your health and report us while booking a trip with us.

A part of the health and fitness, the participant must be having a positive attitude and strong determination for the successful trip.

Altitude Information

AMS (acute mountain sickness) is a serious issue. It is the result of the failure of the body to adapt to high altitudes and can affect anyone, regardless of age or fitness. It usually occurs above 2,500m and the likelihood of being affected increases as you ascend. The way to reduce the effects of altitude is to ascend slowly, 300 meters per day above 3,000 meters until you have acclimatized. Poor acclimatization results in a headache, nausea, sleeplessness, difficulty breathing and swelling of fingers and glands. The only cure for AMS is to descend to a lower altitude and your guide’s decision on this matter is final.

Although our routes are carefully planned to allow for proper acclimatization you may feel some effects of altitude for the first few days or at higher altitudes. Breathlessness, lethargy and mild headaches are not uncommon and generally decrease as your body adjusts. Maintaining adequate fluid intake is essential. Please advise your guide if you feel more severe symptoms and do not medicate yourself without discussing it with them first.

Day: 19 - Drive to Kathmandu - (1,300m/4,264 ft) - 6-7 hours

As we are destined to arrive at Kathmandu from Pokhara, we catch a tourist standard bus, head towards East, following the Prithivi Highway along the Trishuli River. Almost 7 hours of drive brings us to the bus station of Kathmandu, from where our team leader takes us to the hotel. On reaching the hotel, you can be refresh, make family calls and recollect your memories. Late in the afternoon, the company organizes a meeting to evaluate overall trek and to get feedback and some suggestions aiming to make the next trek better than earlier. In the evening, you will join the farewell party which is given to you by the company in one of the popular restaurants. Tonight, you will stay at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day: 20 - Departure day to the final Destination - -

Then, you will be moved, if your flight schedule is managed in the morning, to the Tribhuvan International Airport by one of the representatives of our company. However, you will be moved to the TIA early in the evening if your flight schedule is managed accordingly. In such situation, you will spend your time moving around the shopping malls in Kathmandu and buying some mementos for remembrance of your staying in Nepal. If you want to extend your days in Nepal, the trekking schedule is customizable according to your intention, budget, and requirements.
