Thanks to the Aiming Adventure team for being there as a key support and allowing us to live and enjoy this wonderful and unforgettable experience. The guys were always so kind and made sure we all felt comfortable and safe. Extraordinary human beings! Island peak, situated at the Imja Valley, is one of the fantastic treks of Khumbu region in Himalayas of Nepal. As being one of the most popular trekking peaks, Island peak does not necessarily require trained climbers; however, energetic, determined, enthusiastic and physically fit climbers can choose the package of this climbing peak. Although thirty-three peaks announced as the best trekking peaks in Nepal, Island peak is most liked and suggested peak by trekkers in the Himalayas of Nepal because it does not require proper training to climb successfully; however, it is equally fit for the beginner climber. Climbing peak offers the majestic view of snow-capped peaks including Lhotse (8516m) and Nuptse (7864m). Along with mountains, you can be mesmerized with Buddhists inhabitants and extraordinary view of their monasteries. Situated at an altitude of 6,189m above the sea level, we have even introduced the Island peak as Imja Tse This peak was named Island Peak by Eric Shipton’s party in 1953 as it looks like an island in a sea of ice while viewing from Dingboche. The expedition of trek begins from a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. From Lukla onward, we follow the same trail (Lukla-Namche Bazaar- Tengboche) of hiking to Everest Base Camp until we reach to Dingboche. From Dingboche, leaving the trail towards Dughla, we hike onward Chhukhung. Aiming Adventure Treks offers 16 days package of Island Peak climbing. During the trek, our itinerary package includes proper accommodation, breakfast, food, and transportation cost while staying in Nepal. Meanwhile, it offers a golden opportunity for sightseeing the World Heritages situated in Kathmandu valley. Moreover, we guarantee our all agreements that are made between us and ensure good price in all facilities. Trip Highlights We acknowledge that you are joining us for the adventure trip in Himalayan region of Nepal, where weather conditions, health, and fitness of the member or unexpected natural disaster can compel us to change the itinerary and if so you have to understand it but we would try our best to keep the suggested itinerary as per the original schedule. Your safety and satisfaction of the trip is our paramount concern while traveling with Aiming Adventure and we ensure you our best team, logistics, professional services to make sure that you would have an amazing trip of the lifetime with us. Also note that our trip leader deserved the final decision if the trip has to amend, change the route or cancel due to the extreme conditions for the safety precaution. However, he will try his best to ensure that the trip runs according to the stated plan but be prepared for flexibility if necessary. Aiming Adventure suggests you get travel insurance that covers all the added expenses that might result due to various health issues, injuries or accidents (together with the air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and other treatment costs). Also, make sure that your insurance policy covers all the extra activities that you are planning to accomplish throughout your stay in Nepal. In addition to this, the policy should also cover death, misplaced luggage, theft and liability, cancellations, medical treatment (counting hospital charges, cost of the medicine, doctor’s fees) as well as repatriation cost. Most of the days while trekking in Nepal takes you above an altitude of 3000m, it is kindly requested to ensure that your insurance policy covers treks that go over 4000m. Buying insurance is highly recommended. Trekking in Nepal is physically tougher in some of the regions. However, no previous trekking experienced is required but if you have, it is a great plus point. Trekking in Nepal is a non-technical walk. The highest height you would reach on your trip is 5,550m (Kalapatthar) from sea level. The walk involves lots of ups and downhill takes you through local villages, farming lands, terraces, and riverside but as long as you have a strength of walking for 4 to 6 hours a day, you are qualified for the trek. However, you should be having moderate health and fitness. We strongly suggest travelers consult with your medical doctor before traveling and do the regular checkup of your health and report us while booking a trip with us. A part of the health and fitness, the participant must be having a positive attitude and strong determination for the successful trip. AMS (acute mountain sickness) is a serious issue. It is the result of the failure of the body to adapt to high altitudes and can affect anyone, regardless of age or fitness. It usually occurs above 2,500m and the likelihood of being affected increases as you ascend. The way to reduce the effects of altitude is to ascend slowly, 300 meters per day above 3,000 meters until you have acclimatized. Poor acclimatization results in a headache, nausea, sleeplessness, difficulty breathing and swelling of fingers and glands. The only cure for AMS is to descend to a lower altitude and your guide’s decision on this matter is final. Although our routes are carefully planned to allow for proper acclimatization you may feel some effects of altitude for the first few days or at higher altitudes. Breathlessness, lethargy and mild headaches are not uncommon and generally decrease as your body adjusts. Maintaining adequate fluid intake is essential. Please advise your guide if you feel more severe symptoms and do not medicate yourself without discussing it with them first. Thinking so, it mainly encompasses temple of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and the Kathmandu Durbar Square, where the company will take you for sightseeing. Our visit to them actually begins after the breakfast. After relishing the magnificent views of those enlisted heritages, we will get back to the hotel for short refreshment and we will make our preparation final, packing clothes, trekking gears, jacket, boots, sleeping bags etc. which are most needed during our the trek. We will spend the night at a hotel in Kathmandu. Today, we are destined to make the flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding. Accordingly, we are taken to the Tribhuvan International Airport for ensuring our flight to Lukla early in the morning. Approximately, 30-35 min flight will land us at the Lukla Airport. Arriving at Lukla Airport, you are welcomed by other crew members awaiting our arrival, and then you are introduced to them. Meanwhile, your items of luggage are prepared for the porters. When everything is fully ready, your real trekking of the trip begins aiming to reach Phakding. From Lukla Airport, following four hours of up and downhill trek and flat experiences will finally take us to Phakding. On reaching Pkhakding, you can be refresh and rest for a while. Then, your team leader takes you for a short hiking around the Phakding village. We will spend the night at a lodge in Phakding. Today, we are destined to reach Namche Bazaar. At the end of the village we cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River and continue gentle walk towards Monjo village with little ups and downhill through crossing the small settlements such as Tok- Tok, Banker, Chumawa Monjo is the gateway to the Sagarmatha National Park and National Park office where we registered all our details. Trail little descent from the office and cross the same river and finally reach to the Jorsalle village which is the last village before Namche Bazar. After having wonderful lunch and nice rest we continue to our final destination. After walking approximately half an hour, we reach to the High Hillary Bridge (highest bridge of the Khumbu region). Then, the upward hike continues until we reach the destination of the day. The remaining day can be spent exploring the market. The night will be spent at a lodge in Namche Bazar. The schedule of the third day of our trek is acclimatization at Namche Bazaar. After having breakfast, we will engage in several activities that help us to adjust to changing altitude and thinning air. Instead of resting, we remain active and hike around the villages of Namche and Everest viewpoint where we can have magnificent views of the Mt. Everest, Ama Dublum, Khongde, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku and much other snow-capped mountains. After a couple of hour hiking will back to the hotel to have lunch and lovely shower. The afternoon will be yours wherever you like to visit like: market, bakery, playing cards, reading books etc. The destination set for the day to Tengboche. From Namche Bazaar, we move forward along the River of Dudh Koshi River, relishing the extraordinary view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Caused by those views of mountains, we don’t realize when arriving at Sanasa. Sanasa is a junction of Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp. But, we follow the trail of Everest Base Camp. The trail descends passing the longest Mani wall and Sanasa through the pine and rhododendron forest takes us to Phungi Thanga. From Phungi Thanga about two hours steep climb will take us to Tengboche Monastry. In afternoon we visit the monastery and spent a night at the lodge in Tengboche. Today is the fifth day of our trekking. After capturing the wonderful view from Tengboche and having hot breakfast trail continue short downhill to Debuche and Malingo through passing rhododendron and fir forest. Crossing the bridge and climb up to Pangboche (big Sherpa village), and continue to Somare to the wonderful lunch spot. After lunch two hours vertical climb all the way to Dingboche. The night will spend at the tea house in Dingboche. Today is aimed to have acclimatization at Dingboche. We are pre-supposed to keep ourselves busy because we may suffer from high altitude and thinning air if we rest for a long time. Thinking so, we hike around Dingboche Village to explore the view of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and other towering peaks. The Mani Stone of this place lures trekkers of this place. In the evening, spend your time with crew members, make internet calls with your family members and share your collected memories with them. Then, we spend the night at a lodge in Dingboche. The seventh day of our trek is designed to reach Chhukhung Valley. To reach there, we follow the gentle trail along the Imja Khola. When we reach Chhukung, we get into the lodge, where we meet our climbing guide. Then, the climbing guide will introduce about rules and formalities briefly for the following day’s climb. Meanwhile, we too check all our necessary stuff which is needed during the trek. After completing all preparations for climbing peak, we spend the night at a lodge in Chhukhung. Today is the eighth day of the trek and our destination is the base camp of Island peak. We will first walk towards South and then towards the main valley in the east. After walking on a pleasant trail along the stream the trail directs towards a huge rock. From here this rocky trail becomes glacial as we cross Lhotse and Imja glacier moraine. After crossing these glacier moraines we finally reach the destination set for the day. Today, one-hour training is also scheduled to practice following day’s climb, especially for amateurs. The night is spent in a tent at the base camp of Island peak. After breakfast and packed camping stuff, we'll head on to the High camp from where we start our climb. Firstly the path leads up beyond base camp for several hundred meters before striking off left up to the steep hillside. Initially sandy, the path soon turns to grass before becoming boulder strewn. As you climb the hill, you will see that the slope narrows and the path enter a steep rock channel nearby where we'll overnight at camp. Today is the most sublime day of our overall trek as we climb up the summit of Island Peak. We begin climbing up early in the morning using the techniques that are taught earlier. We make our way through the rock steps of 40-45 degree slopes, and then we follow a ridgeline that leads us to the snout of the summit glacier. We fix up the rope into the crevasses and hike up that takes us to the final summit of the glacier. On reaching the summit, we forget all our pain, difficulty felt during the climbing, and take snaps, make the memories of our lifetime, and finally climb down to the high camp. Arriving at the High Camp, we collect all our stuff and make the way towards Chhukhung Valley for accommodation. As today is the longest walk and most tired day, we rest and relax on reaching Chhukung. Then, we spent the night at a lodge in Chhukhung. Today, we are destined to arrive at Khumjung while retracing to the starting point of our trek. While heading down towards Khumjung, we need to pass the villages of Pangboche and Tengboche. We fix our trail through the rhododendron forests and suspension bridges. Arriving at Khumjung, we get into the booked hotel, where we shower our tired muscles with hot spring water. We spend the night at the hotel in Khumjung. Today, we are scheduled to arrive at Namche Bazaar. On the way, we need to cross Syangboche. The trail towards Namche Bazaar is fairly easier than other trails. Arriving at the Namche Bazaar, if you are interested we hike around Everest View Hotel, Shynagboche Panorama, Khumjung Hillary School and longest Mani Walls. Tonight, we spend the time at a lodge in Namche Bazaar. Today is destined for reaching Lukla from Namche Bazaar. We take breakfast at Namche Bazaar and then descend towards Larja Dobhan, where we will cross the suspension bridges over the confluence of Bhote Koshi River and Dudh Koshi River. Then, we arrive at Monjo Valley after crossing the bridge with a few ascents. Moreover, crossing the bridge over Monjo valley, we hike down towards Phakding. Accordingly, we cross the villages like Monjo, Jorsalle, Thado Koshigaon, Chheplung, Thalsharoa and finally arrive at Lukla Airport. The followed trail is along the Dudh Koshi River. When we arrive at the Lukla airport, we spend the time with crew members and hike around its location for the purpose of exploration and acclimatization. Tonight, we spend the time at a lodge in Lukla. As we are presupposed to reach Kathmandu, we catch up a flight from Lukla. The flight is generally scheduled early in the morning. Before we board the plane, our porters will carry the luggage to the airport and at the same time our team leader will check out all the necessary formalities. As soon as board the plane, around 35 min of flight takes us back to the Tribhuvan International Airport. Then, you will be taken to a booked hotel in Kathmandu by a cozy private vehicle. Arriving at the hotel, you be refresh and rest for a while. The company manages a short discussion among trek member and guests. In the evening, you are offered a farewell dinner in one of the local restaurant of Kathmandu. We will spend the time at a lodge in Kathmandu. It is unpleasant for us to announce that today is your last day with the Aiming Adventure. It is scheduled for you to make a flight to your country. Depending on your departure time, you are taken to the airport. However, if your departure is managed late in the evening, you can spend your time visiting shopping malls for buying special mementos for the remembrance of your staying at Nepal. No problem, if you are willing to stay more days in Nepal, the Aiming Adventure Trek makes perfect arrangements for your further trip based on your budgets, interest, and requirements. Meals and Accommodation
In the city, only breakfast is included on the offered trip itinerary but while in trek full board of meals is included (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, and Tea- Coffee). We provide you food from the local tea- house/ Mt. Lodge from en route. Breakfast and dinner are to be provided from the same tea- house/ guest house we would overnight but lunch would be en route in between.
Foods provided depend on the availability of the Mt. lodges we would be staying but in general, you can have Nepalese cuisine (Dal Bhat), Tibetan fried bread, various soups, Mo Mo’s (steamed dumplings), potatoes, pasta and even a version of pizza! So, overall, you have a different choice of food on the trek. You can pick up from the menu whatever you would like to have.Best Trekking Seasons:
Spring: - (March, April, May) - Best warmest time to trek. Rhododendron flowers in bloom- excellent trails and clear skies, best visibility. Good Temperature, warmest weather of the year.
Autumn: - (Mid-September, October, and November) - Excellent trails, clear blue skies, best visibility, neither too hot nor too cold time. This is another best time to trek.
Winter Months: - (December, January, and February) are also good, but it’s obviously colder than other times. You have to be prepared for this. It is up to you to plan this trek at this cold time or not.
Summer: - Monsoon, so rain and visibility can be a big issue (from Mid-June, July, and August). We do not suggest you this time for the trek. What to bring?
